A ground breaking ceremony was held in early November for Tuxedo Park, a 42-unit senior adult apartment complex located in Birmingham, Alabama. The development is located at 2009 Ave. Q in Ensley on the site of the former Tuxedo Elementary School and across the street from the $23 million Tuxedo Terrace HOPE VI development. It will provide its senior residents with a variety of amenities including a community room, computer center and wireless internet access, as well as a fitness center and picnic areas. The ceremony was well attended by elected officials, local residents, development team members and financial partners.
The $8.2 million project is funded through the Alabama Housing Finance Authority, the city of Birmingham, ADECA and IberiaBank. Aletheia House and Development Services, Inc. are serving as co-developers of the project.
